SonicPool Delivers Sound Design & 5.1 Surround Mix to FEARNET

Hollywood, CA, February 1, 2007 - SonicPool, one of Hollywood‘s leading post facilities, specializing in audio and video finishing, edit suite rentals, and full post-production services, has been signed to perform sound design and 5.1 surround mixing for all of the promos in the launching of the “On-Demand” service behind the recently launched horror TV network, “FEARnet™.” The announcement was made by John Frost and Patrick Bird, co-founders/Supervising Sound Mixers, SonicPool.

On October 31, 2006, “Fear was born” with the launch of FEARnet™, the world‘s premiere destination for horror, and a joint venture between Comcast Corporation, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Lionsgate Entertainment. FEARnet is a cutting edge TV network that brings horror fans uninterrupted “fear” 24/7, wherever and whenever they want. The first multi-platform horror network, FEARnet is available to viewers three ways: On Demand (www.comcast.com/ondemand,) Online (www.FEARnet.com,) and on Mobile Devices (mobile.FEARnet.com.) With access to the biggest collection of horror films in the world, from the vast collections of Sony and Lionsgate, “Fear has a new address.” FEARnet–Where fear is born.” FEARnet is managed by Comcast‘s Programming Group.

SonicPool‘s new project was on behalf of client Liquid Theory, which produced the new promos. Producer Austin Reading, president of Liquid Theory, said, “The guys at SonicPool did a kick ass job for us. Their audio work on these new promos for FEARnet pick up where they left off on the great ‘Scream Awards‘ telecast last year. The team at SonicPool continue to shape and redefine sound design for the horror genre on television!”

Patrick Bird explains what was involved in the mixing and sound design behind the new promos for the newly launched FEARnet television cable network. He said, “As usual, Liquid Theory‘s creative and graphic visuals have challenged us once again to push the aural envelope with our sound design and 5.1 surround mixing. We at SonicPool are no strangers to the horror genre, as we‘ve worked on several horror and conceptual features, as well as seven seasons of ‘X-Files‘ promos, but Liquid Theory has really allowed us to ‘take the gloves off‘ on these new spots.”

Bird adds, “We‘ve always try to use sound design and 5.1 surround to help expand the overall experience beyond the boundaries of the screen, and the horror genre provides a great stage for that aural sensation. We‘re big believers in the theory that your mind can make what you don‘t see scarier than what do you see, especially if you can hear it. As we create our sonic work in concert with Liquid Theory‘s tasty visuals and creative concepts, we always try to keep that mantra in mind.”
