New Streambox Products at NAB2007:
Streambox® SBT3-5200 Video Transport System — At NAB2007 Streambox will introduce a brand new 1-RU video transport system for the broadcast industry — the Streambox® SBT3-5200. This new system utilizes the Streambox® ACT-L3™ Codec and advanced proprietary compression technologies widely used by news organizations and enterprises worldwide and adds the benefit of a smaller, lighter-weight chassis. The SBT3-5200 enables customers to transmit broadcast video in real-time over any IP- or satellite-based network for live news broadcasts or distribution to cable head-ends. Measuring just 1.75 inches by 19 inches by 16.25 inches, the new encoder/decoder set makes it easier for broadcasters to integrate the video transport system into news trucks or other broadcast settings where space is scarce. The SBT3-5200 provides high reliability, superior performance, and low power requirements.
Streambox® Store and Forward — Streambox is announcing the release of a next-generation Store and Forward feature that extends the capabilities of all Streambox systems to better support storage, management, and transmission of HD and SD video streams over IP-based networks. The optional Store and Forward feature enables field journalists to simultaneously transfer files and begin playout, thus making the story available to the news anchor before the file recording is complete. This feature is particularly useful in live broadcasts when the required video quality exceeds the available uplink bandwidth. The enhanced Store and Forward option will begin shipping after NAB2007.
Streambox® SBT3-9100 HD Video Transport — First announced in December, the new SBT3-9100 HD video transport system will make its NAB debut in April. The Streambox® SBT3-9100 is the company’s next generation solution for HD video transport and HD news gathering. An end-to-end HD video transport system, the SBT3-9100 provides stunning full-motion, full-frame 1080i/720p HD broadcast video and audio, in real-time, over satellite and IP-based networks. The HD encoder/HD decoder works seamlessly with the full range of Streambox systems and solutions. The system is built on Streambox’s industry-leading ACT-L3™ codec, which provides unrivaled HD video quality at data rates ranging from 512 Kbps to 20 Mbps. Features of the Streambox® SBT3-9100 include robust forward error correction and advanced networking capabilities for enhanced performance, efficiency, and reliability; dual Gigabit Ethernet ports; and store and forward capabilities. In addition, the SBT3-9100 is capable of outputting both HD and down-converted SD broadcast video simultaneously from a single HD source, and it offers support for both digital and analog HD input/output formats. Customers deploying the SBT3-9100 HD solution can expect an accelerated return on investment due to significantly lower bandwidth cost.
