AvatarLabs Designs Online Banner Campaign Behind Smash hit film “300″
Tarzana, CA, March 23, 2007- AvatarLabs, a full-service motion graphics and online design studio for the entertainment industry led by noted creative director/designer Rex Cook, designed, created and delivered the online banner campaign promoting the Warner Bros. Pictures feature film “300,” which broke industry records with an over $ 70 million opening weekend. AvatarLabs‘ clients for the project were Warner Bros. Interactive Marketing executives Don Buckley, Senior Vice President, Michael Tritter, Vice President, and Andrew Stachler, Director. Mr. Cook made the announcement.
AvatarLabs specializes in the creation of online rich ads, and enriched websites, which are designed to offer internet users additional information and interactive features while promoting major movie releases. As a result of the recent surge in social online networking, and the nature and demographic of individual feature films, theatrical marketing teams at the major movie studios continue to turn to AvatarLabs for their internet marketing expertise at intriguing and involving the general public.
AvatarLabs created dozens of rich expandable ads for “300”. The rich ads acted as mini-sites, containing video, photo galleries, a synopsis, and for many of the ads a “Spartan Training” game that Avatar created that could be played in-banner.
Avatar also created many customized roadblocks for sites from yahoo! and MSN, to AOL and Maxim, including a Myspace homepage takeover. Roadblocks are more than one ad on a page that work together, synced by custom code.
Another significant portion of the campaign included standard ads with a quick 2 second or less piece of video integrated into the ad. This is another area where Avatar has been innovating out in front of the pack. The ads call a separate polite chunk of video, and is not counted in the very limited 20-40 initial k-size of the ad, which results in a much more arresting and engaging ad.
Mr. Cook said, “Working on “300” was an honor for me and the Avatar staff. As a company we were very excited to collaborate with our clients at Warner Bros., who are smart, funny and very forward thinking. The overall marketing campaign, of which we were just a small part, was brilliant. And we couldn‘t be happier that the movie is a huge success. Respect and honor!”
