Harris Corporation Named DTV Transmission Vendor For Georgia Public Broadcasting

Broadcaster to install nine Harris® DTV and two analog transmitters through 2008

LAS VEGAS, April 15, 2007 - Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has been awarded a significant transmission contract by Broadcast Integration Group, part of TI Broadcast Solutions Group, for all nine stations in the statewide Georgia Public Broadcasting PBS station group. The order includes seven Harris® Platinum-i™ VHF DTV transmitters, two Diamond® UHF DTV transmitters and two Platinum™ VHF NTSC analog transmitters.

The DTV transmitters will be outfitted with Harris Corporation‘s market-leading Apex™ digital exciter, and every transmitter will feature the Harris® eCDi® system, which enables remote control and monitoring of any transmitter in the network. TI Broadcast Solutions Group of Norcross, Georgia, will handle transmitter integration and program management for the statewide project, including architectural services and general construction, existing tower refurbishment, new tower construction and antenna replacements.

Georgia Public Broadcasting, which serves every county in Georgia, includes WGTV-TV in Atlanta; WABW-TV in Albany; WCES-TV in Augusta; WCLP-TV in Chatsworth; WJSP-TV in Columbus; WACS-TV in Dawson; WMUM-TV in Macon; WVAN-TV in Savannah; and WXGA-TV in Waycross. All nine stations are scheduled to receive digital transmitters for installation over the next 12 months.

“Harris was chosen for the contract because its bid was deemed to represent the best overall technical and cost value,” said Mark G. Fehlig, director of engineering for Georgia Public Broadcasting. “These will be the first DTV transmitters to be installed at our stations because our sign-on had been delayed by funding.”

“We are overjoyed to be working so closely with our friends at Georgia Public Broadcasting on another groundbreaking project,” said Michael Wright, president, TI Broadcast Solutions Group. “This impressive effort is a testament to their leadership in the PBS community.”

WVAN in Savannah and WXGA in Waycross will receive the NTSC analog transmitters. According to Fehlig, these two NTSC transmitter purchases are intended to restore reliable full service to the group‘s oldest transmitters. These NTSC transmitters are scheduled to convert to DTV after 2009.

“When our DTV conversion is completed, Georgia Public Broadcasting will be an all VHF DTV network,” said Fehlig. While final operational modes are still under development, Georgia Public Broadcasting intends to transmit a mix of HDTV, multicast SDTV and datacast services in its transport streams.
