MusicBox’s Dan Stein Presents “Through the Lens” Fine Art Photography Show

Los Angeles, CA - June 29, 2007 - “Through the Lens,” a solo exhibition of Fine Art Photography by Daniel Stein, will open at the Judith Kaufman Gallery, located at the historic El Portal Theater in North Hollywood, CA, on Wed., July 18. Stein is the co-founder/composer with the successful original music production company MusicBox.

Stein‘s first solo exhibition ”Through the Lens” reveals his fascination with different photographic mediums, blending technology and art. Working with color infrared, swing lens panoramic, medium format film scanning and digital composites to express different emotions, Stein creates a wide palette of photographic imagery. Comprised of approximately 25 works, “Through the Lens” encompasses abstract, landscape and cityscape. Among the themes presented are a series focusing on black & white “Automobilia,” working with classic cars from the past 100 years, photographed from unique perspectives. Another series focuses on abstract views of trains and close-up perspectives of vintage train exteriors.

A professional composer and Co-Founder of MusicBox, an original music production boutique based in Los Angeles and New York, Daniel Stein‘s music can be heard on commercials for Apple, Expedia.com, and Budweiser, as well as on HBO specials, A&E reality shows and many other TV and film productions. MusicBox provides music to network and cable TV programs, as well as to major motion pictures, independent films, movie trailers, national advertising campaigns, and radio spots.

During his 20 years in the music industry, Stein has continued to cultivate and explore his passion for photography, only recently culminating in a serious outlet for creativity. Daniel Stein began his training at Syracuse University’s College of Visual Arts, where after a year, his creative direction took a turn after being accepted to Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has earned two gold records, one resulting from his work on James Taylor‘s “New Moon Shine (as synthesizer programmer) and another for his work on “The Music of Disney” (arranger.) In addition, as a composer, Stein contributed to the Emmy-Award Winning “Happy to be Nappy” TV program on HBO. Since 2002, Stein has been a contributor to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art‘s Rental and Sales Gallery, which regularly showcases the work of local artists, which are available for sale or rent.

The “Through the Lens” exhibition of Daniel Stein‘s Fine Art Photography begins with an opening reception on Wed., July 18, from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. The show runs through September.
