San Diego, CA - SIGGRAPH 2007, Booth #1720 (August 7, 2007)-The software division of award-winning visual effects studio Frantic Films today announced the release of Awake, a plug-in pack for eyeon Software’s Fusion 5. Awake includes six powerful plug-ins: Lens Distort, Stereo Image Stacking, Stereo Image Unstacking, Frequency Blur, Spherical Distort, and Digital Camera Noise. Awake will be demonstrated at the eyeon Software booth, Booth #815 and at the Frantic Films booth, Booth #1720 at this year’s SIGGRAPH Conference from August 7-9, at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, Calif.

Fusion is a full-featured, node-based compositing system used at top facilities working in feature film, commercials, motion graphics and television post-production. Awake is seamlessly integrated into the Fusion 5 interface, unlocking a host of useful features that leverage Fusion 5’s inherent speed and interactivity to transform any production.

The Awake Toolkit Includes:

Lens Distort

o Correct off-center and radially distorted lens

o 5 parameter model supports output from Tsai camera calibration

o Edge policy support black, wrapped, duplicated and mirrored edge handling

Stereo Image Stacking

o Stack input images top/bottom, side-by-side, or interlaced

o Flip left or right image horizontally to correct source images from beam splitter cameras

o Add watermarks to left and right frames to prevent confusion

o Use scripts to enable or disable left or right input to increase preview speed

Stereo Image Unstacking

o Unstack images stored in a top/bottom, side-by-side, or interlace image stack

o Generate anaglyphs using the PS or LSA anaglyph methods

o Generate color or gray-scale anaglyph images

o Use scripts to enable or disable left or right input to increase preview speed

Frequency Blur

o Blur an image with the built-in Disk, Hexagonal, Gaussian, or Airy Disk kernel

o Apply user-defined kernels to achieve the blur shape that best fits your environment

o Use the kernels to convolve (blur) or deconvolve (sharpen) the image

o Edge policy supports black, wrapped, and duplicated edge handling

o Use kernels with fixed or independent heights and widths

o Add customized bokeh to built-in kernels to generate ringed blurring effects

Spherical Distort

o Convert between fish eye, perspective, latitude/longitude, cube face, and cylindrical camera models

o Control field of view, rotation, and output size of images

Digital Camera Noise

o Apply pixel level CCD camera grain to rendered images

o Choose default settings or modify the noise parameters manually

o Adjust brightness, red, green, and blue noise independently

o Adapts grain levels in light and dark regions of the image
