The Briefing Room

The Brief:
The effects team at Smoke and Mirrors New York creates a large scale dominoes game for the new Sirius Stiletto 2 MP3 player. Instead of the normal game pieces, we see music players throughout history toppling over one another in an elaborate set-up. The sequence of cascading cadence players moves from tapes to 8 tracks to CDs to a juke box and finally to a whole mess of iPod’s. The culmination comes when every inferior player seems to bow down as they fall at the base of Sirius’ Stiletto 2, which remains steadfast in its superiority.

This spot for the Martin Agency was beautifully shot by Andrew Douglas of Anonymous Content and worked on by our team of VFX specialists. We were involved early in the process starting with the storyboard stage, pre visuals, shoot supervision, right through to the 3D and final compositing. The work ranged from large scale set clean up, creating CG images of the Stiletto 2, to the generation of 9 scenes of entirely CG MP3 devices, toppling like dominoes.

New Senior Flame Artist, Dan Kelly and Creative Director Sean Broughton composited the scenes with Cary Flaum heading up the production.
