Dan May, President, Blackmagic Design, Discusses New 3Gb/s SDI Products from Blackmagic Design Open Doors for Post Production Professionals

dan-angle-no-tie-smlr.jpgOver this last year Blackmagic Design has seen a myriad of products come out that help empower the creative professional. We’ve introduced cost-effective Intensity capture cards that have really highlighted HDMI as a great new addition to many people’s workflows. The Intensity cards provide a wide range of editing solutions working with simple analog SD, DV, P2, or even capturing from AVC and HDV devices. We have folks thank us all the time for creating a product the opens the door to uncompressed, while still supporting all the compressed workflows that many people require.

However I’d say our greatest technical achievement has come with our implementation of 3Gb/s SDI technology which has opened up new doors for post production professionals. 3Gb/s technology is really about having a bigger pipeline to be able to push more data through than we’ve been accustomed to with traditional 1.5Gb/s SDI. This means with products like our Multibridge Eclipse, Multibridge Pro, and HDLinkPro we’ve already been able to empower people with great 2k editing and monitoring workflow solutions!

We believe 3Gb/s technology is going to be a great solution for many broadcast and professional post production facilities, which is why all new Blackmagic Design products include 3Gb/s SDI technology as a core feature.
