Quantel Office Burglarized, Neo Stolen
BURBANK, CA (April 30, 2008)— Quantel’s regional office, here, was broken into early this week, and the company’s brand new Neo control panel for its Pablo color correction system was taken. Quantel introduced Neo at NAB in Las Vegas this month and has already taken orders for 20 units, as its Newbury, UK, factory ramps up production.
Neo was designed through feedback from Pablo users and incorporates a layout that allows for fast work by either left- or right-handed operators. The control panel offers one-button access to menus, keeping functions easily accessible. Ahost of organic LEDs, as well as its backlit fascia, help to provide visual feedback to the user.
The stolen Neo was one of only a few in existence, and was slated for use in a series of upcoming demo sessions, says Quantel’s head of publicity, Roger Thornton. And while its impressive design might have caught the thief’s attention, the unit is worthless without a companion Pablo system and the company’s V4 code to drive it.
