FlickerLab Wins BDA Gold and Bronze

bad-fats-brothers.jpgAt the BDA North America Design Awards June 19th presentation at the 2008 PROMAX & BDA International Conference in The Grand Ballroom of The New York Hilton Hotel, FlickerLab, the New York-based design and animation studio, won two statuettes, a Gold and a Bronze.

These wins are representative of the range of creative work FlickerLab provides its clients and were awarded for:

GOLD for Art Direction & Design (PSA): “The Bad Fats Brothers”

With their TV PSA, a Flash animated web short and their design and animation for Porter Novelli’s client the American Heart Association’s “Bad Fats Brothers” website, FlickerLab helped educate the AHA audience about trans and saturated fats. Sat and Trans clog your arteries and raise your bad cholesterol with those big helpings of fried chicken, juicy cheese burgers and crispy fries, butter and biscuits, steak and a loaded potato, and tempting donuts and flaky pastries. You don’t have to look hard to find this tempting duo - they are usually hanging out in restaurants, grocery stores and vending machines. “Don’t let them break your heart.” Visit the American Heart Association site BadFatsBrothers.com to meet Sat & Trans, check out their menu and downloads, and view the webisode. From there users can get more fat-sensible information at the main information website AmercianHeart.org/FaceTheFats.

BRONZE for Corporate Programs: “How I Like My Time, Inc.”

FlickerLab designed, animated and composited a 1:23 corporate video for Time Inc., the leading magazine publisher in the world. Screened for Time’s advertisers, the video promotes the vibrancy of the multi-platform publishing company’s popular brands and successful franchises that extend to online, television, cable video on demand, satellite radio, mobile devices, events and branded products.

An homage to Dr. Seuss’ (Theodor S. Geisel) Green Eggs and Ham, as actor Mario Cantone asks “how do you like your Time Inc.?” FlickerLab’s animation promotes a variety of titles displayed on a variety of platforms accessible on a train, on a plane, on a beach, out of reach, in a box, etc. But mostly, we like Time Inc. brands “lots, and lots and lots.”

“We are very proud because these BDA awards reflect the strength of the work we are doing in broadcast design, and helps highlight the profile we built for ourselves over the last couple of years and the incredibly strong team we have here at FlickerLab. The work was on-air and on-line and every win involved storytelling, our trademark. We used these opportunities to tell a story, and that is what connects with the viewer,” stated FlickerLab Founder/Creative Director Harold Moss.
