EDITOR AKIKO IWAKAWA CONTRIBUTES TO “PEOPLE IN THE MIDDLE FOR OBAMA” CAMPAIGN
New York, NY — (October 29, 2008) — Editor Akiko Iwakawa was one of several volunteers from the advertising and production communities, who lent their time and talent to “People in the Middle for Obama,” a grassroots campaign, which launched this week and was directed by Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Errol Morris. The 30 - 60 second interviews are designed to be spread over the Internet to undecided voters who may benefit from hearing the factors that helped people like themselves make up their minds.
The campaign can be viewed at www.PeopleInTheMiddleForObama.org.
“I am grateful that I had an opportunity to participate in this true grassroots campaign that I believe has captured the essence of Barack Obama’s message: common people rising to the occasion for change,” says Akiko Iwakawa, one of the seven editors who contributed to the campaign. “I felt inspired and empowered by this project and the notion that we - not just politicians and people in power, but all of us - can contribute to make this country better. Working on this, it was sometimes an overwhelming experience to hear so many people passionately speaking of their hopes for the new United States - I’ve never felt this emotional (and with hope, not with anger) about politics.”
