Fujitsu IP-9500 MPEG-4 AVC Encoder now Features DVB-S and DVB-S2 Modulation Capabilities

Integration of DVB-S/S2 Functionality Enables Broadcasters to Maintain Exceptional High-Definition Picture Quality while Reducing Overall Cost of Transmitting HD Signals over Satellite

Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a leading supplier of innovative computer products and broadcast solutions, announced today that the Fujitsu IP-9500 MPEG-4 AVC encoder now features Digital Video Broadcasting-Satellite (DVB-S) and Digital Video Broadcasting-Satellite-Second Generation (DVB-S2) modulation functionality to transmit HD signals over satellite links. The integration of DVB-S/S2 capabilities into the IP-9500 eliminates the need for separate modulators, enabling broadcasters to maintain superior HD picture quality produced by the IP-9500 while reducing overall costs of transmitted HD signals via satellite. Fujitsu will demonstrate the DVB-S/S2 feature and other capabilities of the IP-9500 during the 2009 NAB Show (booth SU10921), April 20-23, 2009 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas.

“While superior HD picture quality remains one of the IP-9500′s most significant competitive differentiators, adding DVB-S/S2 capabilities simplifies the operation as well as reduces rack space and cost,” said Vic Herring, senior director, video solutions group, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. “We believe the integration of DVB-S/S2 capabilities into the Fujitsu encoder is a step forward in helping our customers reducing cost associated with implementing a separate satellite modulator while maintaining the best possible HD picture quality.”

The Fujitsu IP-9500 is the industry’s leading AVC/H.264 encoding solution for real-time broadcast quality contribution content. The IP-9500′s exceptional picture quality at low bit rates and low-latency enables HD satellite news gathering (SNG) and live events transmission using existing broadcast satellite infrastructure.
