Cinegy (www.cinegy.com), a Munich-based developer of enabling IT tools, such as codecs, asset management and workflow solutions, has named Martin Libich to the newly-created post of Product Evangelist for North America.

Libich, formerly a systems engineer with Apple, will be responsible for promoting Cinegy products to the broadcast and post production communities in Southern California and throughout the United States. He will oversee the company’s marketing activities, and work directly with resellers and customers on workflow and product implementation issues. He will also provide input to the Cinegy development team on product strategy and roadmap development.

“Interest in Cinegy’s products has been rising rapidly in the US. as more broadcast and post production companies embrace file-based modes of operation,” said Cinegy Managing Director Daniella Weigner. “Martin will play a lead role in ensuring that the market understands what distinguishes our products and makes them both a compelling and necessary solution to the challenge of managing and working with digital assets.”

Libich brings expertise in product management, systems engineering and post production to his new role. Immediately prior to joining Cinegy, he served as a systems engineer for Apple in Los Angeles, assisting clients in the post production industry with product implementation. Previous to that, he was a consulting engineer with Apple Europe’s Executive Briefing Program, which introduces new technologies to corporate, governmental and educational customers. His background also includes posts as a product specialist with Sonic, dimedia and Avid. A graduate of Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Germany, he began his career as a film editor.

In discussing his new role, Libich said that Cinegy offers innovative and timely solutions to some of the most vexing challenges media companies currently face. “Post production and broadcast workflows are incredibly complex today,” he observed. “And it can be very difficult to determine how best to acquire, manage and share digital assets in a collaborative workflow.
