Adder Announces Real Time DVI over IP and USB Extender

Adder to Give Sneak Peek of Major Industry Breakthrough at InfoComm

CAMBRIDGE, UK and ORLANDO, FL – June 15, 2009 – Adder, a leading developer of KVM switches, extenders and KVM over IP solutions will preview its newest breakthrough at InfoComm (booth #2673) on June 17-19 in Orlando, Florida. The AdderLink Infinity, a hardware-based DVI extension device is capable of extending DVI video, audio, and USB signals over unlimited distances using IP and gigabit Ethernet technologies.

“Traditional keyboard, video and mouse extender technologies have suffered from range limitations, the need for dedicated cabling and inflexibility in their inherently point-to-point system design,” said Nigel Dickens, Adder’s Technical Director. “Adder believed that there must be a better way of providing flexible remote access to computing equipment – one that addresses these issues head on.”

The AdderLink Infinity supports an industry-leading DVI-over-IP technology with resolutions of up to 1920×1200 @ 60Hz - full-frame video over a single UTP gigabit Ethernet cable. The unique technology delivers near real time video by using innovative hardware acceleration techniques. These speeds are only possible through Adder’s unique adaptive compression technologies which provide very low latencies and give the highest picture quality. Furthermore, the extender supports multicast distribution of video and audio - at no additional cost of network bandwidth or wiring. This makes it possible for video to be multicast to any number of receivers, and any receiver can be configured to see any video source in the system.

Adder’s innovative approach to USB extension enables certain classes of USB2.0 compatible peripherals to be supported, including Keyboards, Mice, Touch Screens, Printers and Mass Storage devices. Incorporating bi-directional CD quality audio extension simplifies use of remote speakers, microphone, and headsets.

The new DVI over IP and USB extender will eliminate the range problems of desktop extension, making centralized management of desktops a reality. Furthermore, with the built-in multicast capabilities of both video and audio, the extender will be ideal for many video distribution applications. The inherent configurability of the system, allowing dynamic switching of video sources and endpoints means that it can be used in the most complex of video and desktop switching applications.

The AdderLink Infinity will be available in Q3 2009 through local distribution partners around the world.
