Createasphere/LEARN GROWS EDUCATIONAL OFFERINGS
REDucation, ColorCamp, P2 Training Brings Depth to Respected HD EXPO Lineup
July 10, 2009 (Burbank, CA) Createasphere/LEARN, the educational division of HD EXPO, has unveiled an expanded slate within its respected educational offerings. HD EXPO is midway through a year of transformation from a trade show engaged in the adoption of a single technology to Createasphere, an organization championing the broader needs and interests of the content creation community. Createasphere/LEARN is the division of Createasphere that presents all educational workshops and online learning; and is in the midst of expanding its courses and delivery. HD EXPO has provided high quality, in depth learning since 2001.
Kristin Petrovich, President of HD EXPO-Createasphere, said, “It is crystal clear that ongoing education is mission critical for our careers. As production, visual effects, data, post production and exhibition merge and intersect, content creators are constantly called upon to know the latest tools and technologies. Our students are finding that they, like technologies, must be ‘interoperable.’ After careful analysis and expert involvement, we’ve developed workshops that help content creators be prepared at a very high level.”
Among the offerings on tap for the next six months, Createasphere/LEARN will present:
P2: Boasting an updated and upgraded curriculum, Createasphere’s P2 Camp imparts powerful knowledge with hands-on experience on all P2 gear, real life workflow, and long-lasting takeaway. P2 Camp rolled out in 2008. Interest in this workshop is at an all time high.
REDucation: In its first-ever educational alliance, RED has joined Createasphere/LEARN to present fully immersive education and training. Taught by working professionals and experts, the three pillars of REDucation are RED Tech, which explores on set practices; RED Post, an in-depth three-day post production course of study, and Community Day, which opens up to the RED public who want to get in front of the RED technology and the experts and companies that support it. REDucation is available as a seven-day training session combining 3 days of RED Tech and 3 days of RED Post with Community Day, or as RED Tech or RED Post with Community Day in a four-day training course.
ColorCamp: Understanding the essentials of color science and the tools that impact it, both in acquisition and post production, is increasingly critical for content creators. How the eye sees color, how film and digital cameras interpret and record color, light theory and sources, color theory, RAW vs Baked In Color, and how to create a “look,” are just a few of the mission-critical topics that are covered in the workshop.
Jeff Seckendorf joined Createasphere/LEARN as Director of Workshops in March, 2009. A respected cinematographer and director, Seckendorf brings a wide scope of creative and technical skill to his post. In addition to implementing the LEARN slate, he is at work on the online education module that Createasphere/LEARN will roll out later this year. Seckendorf states, “We know that there is a dynamic need for up to date knowledge from every part of our community, around the country and around the world: cinematographers, editors, producers, directors, visual effects artists and executives are trying to stay on top of this ever changing game. We will be unveiling one of the most innovative, interactive learning modules that our community has ever seen within the next quarter. We’re excited to enable this caliber of learning as a global opportunity.”
