Inlet Announces Support for Silverlight 3
Inlet’s Solutions, Combined with Microsoft Silverlight and Smooth Streaming, Enable Highest Quality Video Experiences
RALEIGH, NC – JULY 10, 2009 – Inlet Technologies, a leader in advanced encoding solutions for new media, announced today that its SpinnakerTM family of live streaming appliances and Armada automated encoding workflow solution offer full support for Microsoft Silverlight 3.
Inlet’s Spinnaker, together with Microsoft Silverlight and Smooth Streaming technology, have already been working to help successfully enable live HD streaming of numerous events, including the Italian broadcast of the FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009, France Télévisions’ Roland Garros tennis tournament, Canadian Television’s MuchMusic Awards 2009, and the 2009 Wimbledon tennis tournament. Coming up in July and August, those technologies will once again be used to stream the World Swimming Championships and the World Championships in Athletics through RAI.IT.
This latest release of Silverlight includes out-of-browser support, so developers can simply and immediately deploy applications offline - end users do not need to be connected to the Internet for Silverlight applications to work. In addition, Microsoft Corp. provides unparalleled online video experiences through Microsoft Internet Information Services 7.0 (IIS) Smooth Streaming. Inlet was the one of the first encoding solutions providers to announce support for Smooth Streaming for live streaming and video-on-demand applications.
