From the award-winning film crew who brought you AMERICAN WAITRESS comes a documentary film that follows individuals in Santa Fe, New Mexico who are highly educated, creative and recognized in their fields but still find it necessary to work jobs outside their chosen careers. They are your cleaning ladies, waitresses, bartenders, shopkeepers and even adult entertainers. But in reality…they are so much more! Whether in a ball-gown dancing at the ball or in rags cleaning the cinders, how do they view themselves? And how are they viewed by the public-at-large?

Jenny, an aspiring and acclaimed actress, works in a delicatessen. Rachel, a talented bellydancer, caters to make ends meet. Kyoko writes poetry when not teaching Japanese or working in her son’s daycare center. Susan, a visual artist with exhibits in large museums, works four jobs just to make ends meet. And the list goes on…

CINDERELLAS OF SANTA FE will premier nationwide on The Documentary Channel on July 27th at 9 PM ET/PT for the beginning of a two-year run!

Over two years in the making, this timeless documentary is even more significant today in light our economic recession as more Americans face similar fates. Inspired after living in Europe for nearly a decade, Director Vanessa Vassar recognized the economic hardship and lack of support in our culture. CINDERELLAS follows her success with AMERICAN WAITRESS which was lauded as being “Profound and funny!” in an “indie tide that is definitely turning” when premiered on The Sundance Channel. It has since aired in Canada, New Zealand, and Israel and is currently playing on The Documentary Channel with Digital Rights represented by Cinetic Media.

The CINDERELLAS music soundtrack is by Phonoroid with sounds by Axel Manrico Heilhecker and words and vocals by Vanessa Vassar! Rolling Stone described Phonoroid as “create(ing) a beautiful world of sound…songs of photographic poetry.”

Bringing his expertise to CINDERELLAS as supervising producer is Alton Walpole of “Baraka” and “Koyaanisqatsi” and most recently “Crazy Heart.” Longtime production partner Grant Taylor lends his talents to camera and edit.
