STRIKE.TV SIGNS LEAD BALLOON EPISODIC “COMA, PERIOD”

Los Angeles, CA – (August 13, 2009) — Production Studio Lead Balloon has inked an exclusive deal with online network Strike.TV for its premiere online episodic “Coma, Period.” The show launches on Strike.TV in September.

psychicbunnyleadballoon-comaperiod1.jpg “We feel that ‘Coma Period’ is one of the most imaginative and visually unique comedy series yet created. I’m thrilled to be adding ‘Coma Period’ to our slate of original programming to Strike.TV. It has an addictive quality and a brilliant wit that I’m sure our audience will love,” said Strike.TV’s CEO Peter Hyoguchi.

“Coma, Period” is a sardonic black comedy about coma-bound Dan Humford who mentally wanders through a white void and is periodically and humorously tormented by his own subconscious. A magician, psychosexual fantasies and a fetus that likes board games are all part of the irreverent offerings, which will come to viewers in ten bite-sized segments of three minutes each. The series stars comedian Rob Delaney who was featured in the viral phenomenon from comedy.com “Warner Bros Responds to Christian Bale.”

pscychicbunnyleadballoon-comaperiod2.jpg “We are incredibly excited about working with Strike.TV to bring our series to audiences. With Netflix streaming, XBOX download movies and the popularity of HULU, digital delivery is the way of the future,” says Lead Balloon Producer Asa Shumskas-Tait. “People have an assumption that web video is, by definition, poorly produced and to them we say, ‘Good day, Sir!’ We approached ‘Coma, Period’ with the production approach of a television episodic but in satisfying web friendly portions.”

psychicbunnyleadballoon-comaperiod3.jpg “We do not believe the bar of quality should be lower just because this is the Internet,” adds Lead Balloon Co-Founder Doug Spice. “The audience is, if anything, more demanding – Next-Gen audiences raised on a diet of innovation. We embrace that innovation at the story level, at the production level, and everywhere else. If we’re telling a story, it’s because it’s something we’d want to watch. That’s why we’re excited about working with Strike.TV: their roots are in writing and creativity. They want to show you something different.”

As production costs drop and technology continues to converge, Lead Balloon is looking at a wide variety of platforms and technologies to reach story-hungry audiences in both popular and unconventional venues.
