Harold Group Inks Jonathan Dennis

Harold is pleased to announce the signing of talented and diverse Director Jonathan Dennis. Following an award-winning career as one of the most sought-after television directors in the UK, Dennis recently shifted his focus to advertising making him the perfect fit for harold’s roster. Dennis brings with him a keen photographic eye for visual storytelling and a talent for coaxing realistic and natural performances from professionals and non-actors alike.

His recent work covers an impressive range, from serious to downright goofy, from a montage of passionate fans discussing upcoming soccer matches to cows being launched from cannons to training partners donning chicken and egg costumes during their intense preparations for the London Marathon. His portfolio includes spots for Yazoo, BMW and Specsavers; Euro 2008 Who Will You Support? through Rainey Kelly; and a multi-spot international campaign for ING shot and produced in New York City.

“Jon is fearless as a director,” noted harold group Founder/EP Lee Scharfstein. “Shooting a cow out of a canon with some crazy Evel Knievel guy milking it in mid-air (for Yazoo)? I mean, c’mon… who does that?! He just has a creative conviction that’s really refreshing when so many agencies and directors are playing it safe in this economic climate. Harold is all about taking the creative to that next level and Jon is perfectly aligned with that philosophy. It takes a certain degree of bravery and, of course, trust on the part of a client/agency and that’s a bit more challenging to come by these days. My hope is Jon will inspire that trust amongst the ranks of the creative coterie.”

Dennis’ work – in particular his performance-based work, has already received considerable recognition, including a Creative Circle for the London Marathon, a Kinsale Shark for subtitles, a Fresh Award for Yazoo Flying Cow, and two Promax Gold awards for his The Apprentice and Euro 2008 spots.

Prior to joining harold, Dennis worked for the BBC and Red Bee Media, where his abnormal skills and versatility contributed to him winning a string of coveted industry gongs in commercials, trailers and idents. Dennis launched his career with Sky Television, where he directed award-winning campaigns for Sky Sports.
