Cobalt Digital Releases Audio Loudness Meter

ogcp_large_loud.jpg(Urbana, IL) – With disgruntled viewers at home and in Congress, the pressure is rising for broadcasters to resolve inconsistent audio loudness and meet ATSC A/85 standards. Step one of the solution is clear: stations need accurate, intelligent measurement of loudness levels.

To meet this need, Cobalt Digital Inc. has developed the Audio Loudness Meter (OPT-SW-LM), providing broadcasters with a flexible solution for ingest or on-air loudness metering and assessment.

With true peak level detection, error tracking and logging, and an intuitive interface with touch screen control, the OPT-SW-LM ensures thorough audio level and LKFS assessment information. The software is ATSC A/85 and ITU BS.1770 compliant.

“This is just the first option in a full line of loudness processing solutions that Cobalt will introduce over the next few months, stated Chris Shaw, Vice President of Sales.

Cobalt offers a full range of stand-alone and terminal conversion gear for the broadcast industry. The OPT-SW-LM software is compatible with Cobalt 9000 series audio cards, in tandem with the award-winning Cobalt OGCP-9000 remote control panel.
