Oddball Film + Video’s Latest Projects

Oddball Film+Video Acquires Shocking Terrorist Footage, Researches for MythBusters, Licenses for Häagen-Dazs Ice Cream.

Oddball Film+Video, the leading provider of offbeat and unusual stock footage, has recently acquired disturbing terrorist footage along with over a hundred eclectic, archival film prints from the 1940s and 1950s. Oddball’s quirky collection features over 50,000+ 35mm, 16mm and HD historical and contemporary clips in all genres. Oddball’s recent projects include licensing vintage erotica for HBO’s infamous “Katie Morgan’s Sex Quiz which aired in December 2009, providing rare gay footage for the documentary film “Stonewall:The Uprising due for theatrical release in 2010 and licensing a 1960s French fashion film for “Häagen-Dazs:Essential Five, an online publicity campaign for the renowned ice-cream corporation.

Recent Acquisitions
One of the most shocking recent collections represented by Oddball Film+Video contains footage of terrorist and insurgent operations in hotspots around the world, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia and Somalia. Among the 52 clips in the collection are scenes of bombings, insurgent combat, sniper attacks and terrorist training camps. The collection also features the Al Qaeda leaders of today (Osama bin Laden and Ayman Al-Zawahiri) and tomorrow (Abu Mansour the American and Abu Yahya Al Libbi, who escaped from U.S. custody in Afghanistan). Oddball also acquired a diverse collection of quirky films from the 1940s and 1950s featuring sultry burlesque dancers and cheeky nudies, vintage automobile manufacturing films, silent comedies and cartoons, and old musical shorts called “Soundies originally made to be projected on stand alone film “jukeboxes.

Recent Projects
Oddball has been involved with more burlesque fun this season by providing a variety of custom-made montages of kooky 1960s footage for the sassy dance troupe the Devil-Ettes and their new show “The Go Go Spectacularâ€? at the Brava Theater in San Francisco. More kink followed when Oddball provided HBO with a sexy selection of old-fashioned erotic clips for “ Katie Morgan’s Sex Quizâ€? a naughty follow up to the popular show “Katie Morgan’s Sex Tipsâ€?. Oddball worked on a commercial project this season for “Häagen-Dazs:Essential Fiveâ€? supplying a French fashion film to compliment an international online advertisement for their delicious new range of ice creams. Documentarians David Heilbroner and Kate Davis were commissioned by WGBH Boston to make “Stonewall:The Uprisingâ€?, which will be broadcast in 2011 as part of PBS’ American Experience series, and turned to Oddball for some unique and rare gay footage. We were pleased to provide one of a kind gay home movies, footage of gay bar raids, early drag shows, AIDS epidemic and LGBT protests which all gave significant historical context to this thought provoking documentary.

Current Research Projects

Oddball Film+Video has been busy researching both broadcast, documentary and feature films this season.
“Mythbusters (Episode 135) turned to Oddball once again for unusual footage to illustrate their investigations into fact and fiction. Oddball sought offbeat clips of crowds running from giant monsters, people using huge 1950s remote controls and close-ups of mold growing. Oddball researched vintage and contemporary fashion show and runway footage for “Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston (in production) a documentary film starring Liza Minelli, exploring the clothes, glamour and decadence of iconic fashion designer Halston. Donna S.Kline, creator of the documentary film “Virtuoso: The Olga Samaroff Story sought Oddball’s help in finding archival footage of World War I soldiers in battle and New York and Paris in the 1920s to use in her portrayal of Olga Samaroff, America’s progressive female concert pianist.
