(London, UK) Digital Vision’s fully equipped grading and finishing platform Film Master was recently used to grade the second series of the BBC’s BAFTA-winning drama series Wallander. Following in the footsteps of the highly acclaimed first series, the three 90-minute episodes, which aired last month, were graded by renowned colourist Aidan Farrell at The Farm. The series has received universal acclaim for its direction and photography.

Shot on RED, The Farm handled all of the data files from acquisition to delivery. Following the offline edit material was delivered to the facility on hard disk and conformed using a combination of the Film Master, DVS CLIPSTER and Monkey Extract. It was then graded by Aidan using RED log DPX files extracted from the native RED files. Aidan was presented with an RTS Craft and Design Award in “Best Picture Enhancement” last November for his work on the first series.

Aidan explains, “Working with well shot RED footage is always a joy and this series of Wallander did not disappoint. The latitude available in the original RED files and the creative tool set in the Film Master helped to construct the stunning and unique visual style now expected from this iconic show.” It is now rumored that the BBC will announce six more episodes of the gritty detective series starring Kenneth Branagh with three original storylines and three based on the famous Henning Mankell novels.

Digital Vision will be exhibiting at Broadcast Video Expo, February 16th – 18th 2010, on stand L30.
