CINEMA AUDIO SOCIETY TO PRESENT MANFRED KLEMME WITH PRESIDENT’S AWARD

CAS President’s Award Recipient, Manfred Klemme

Los Angeles February 8, 2010—Cinema Audio Society President Edward L. Moskowitz, CAS announced today that for the first time since 2004 there will be a President’s Award presented at this year’s CAS Awards Dinner on February 27th. The President’s Award is presented at the discretion of the President and the Board of Directors of the CAS to an individual who has been dedicated to the advancement of Sound.

Said Moskowitz, “This year I am pleased to announce that we will be honoring Manfred Klemme with the President’s Award. Mr. K, as he is affectionately known, has spent decades involved in motion picture sound and the quality of sound we listen to in films today is a result of his years of dedication and his technical advances and designs.�

After spending years with Nagra Hollywood, Manfred Klemme founded M. Klemme Technology Corp. the company that manufactures, in the U.S.A., the family of K-Tek products. The design and development of the K-Tek Microphone Boom Pole and accessories for on-set motion picture sound recording was honored with a Technical Achievement Award by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 1998. K-Tek continues to manufacture quality products for the sound professional.

Klemme will join previously announced honorees: CAS Career Achievement Award recipient Randy Thom, Director of Sound at Skywalker Sound and CAS Filmmaker Award recipient multi-faceted stop-motion filmmaker Henry Selick at the 46th Annual CAS Awards Dinner in the Crystal Ballroom of the Millennium Biltmore Hotel.

KTLA entertainment reporter Sam Rubin will be returning as Master of Ceremonies at the dinner which will also honor Outstanding Achievements in Sound Mixing in five categories: Motion Pictures; Television Movies and Mini- Series; Television Series; Television-Non-Fiction, Variety or Music Series or Specials and DVD Original Programming and present CAS Technical Achievement Awards for both Production and Post-Production.

The Cinema Audio Society, a philanthropic, non-profit organization, was formed in 1964 for the purpose of sharing information with Sound Professionals in the Motion Picture and Television Industry.
