Shoulder-mount model and DVCAM Recording Address Specific Needs of Production Community


PARK RIDGE, N.J., Oct. 20, 2009 – The expanding family of Sony’s XDCAM EX™ video products now includes two new camcorders that deliver new levels of creativity and flexibility for solid-state digital production.


The products include Sony’s first 2/3-inch CMOS memory camcorder, the shoulder-mount model PMW-350, and the PMW-EX1R, which adds DVCAM™ recording capability as well as numerous enhancements directly resulting from customer feedback. more

ESPN 3D Production of USC-Ohio State Game Driven by Sony HD Technology

The Sept. 12 meeting between college football powerhouses USC and Ohio State will be transmitted live from Columbus, Ohio to the Galen Center on the USC campus, where guests will view the game projected on Sony SXRD 4K technology.

The game will be shot using PACE Productions’ 3D image-capture systems, which feature Sony HDC-1500 cameras in stereoscopic rigs designed by Vince Pace. NEP Productions’ will provide its high-definition Supershooter mobile unit, which will use a Sony MVS-8000G switcher specially enabled to handle 3D stereo signals.

At the Galen Center, six Sony 4K projectors will display the game in 3D on three 40-foot screens.

The 3-D action-horror feature “The Final Destination,” which opened this weekend at number-one at the box office, was shot with Sony’s F23 camera. To capture the “gun-and-run”-style of a 3-D motion picture shot on location, instead of primarily against a green or blue screen backdrop, director of photography Glen MacPherson ASC and digital imaging technician Nick Theodorakis chose Sony’s F23 camera for its mobility and flexibility. more

Filmmakers Choose Sony HDV Technology for a Look at Woodstock’s 40th Anniversary

PARK RIDGE, N.J., Aug. 17, 2009 – The iconic music event, Woodstock, is being relived on television, in time for the festival’s 40th anniversary. “Woodstock: Now and Then,” a new documentary shot with Sony HDV™ camcorders, premieres on the VH1 and History networks.

The documentary merges film footage from the original Woodstock movie with new HD interview footage recorded on the Sony cameras. Academy Award winning director/producer Barbara Kopple chose the Sony HVR-Z7U and S270U HDV camcorders for their high-quality imaging and versatility, especially in changing shooting conditions, from natural light to low light. more

New ABC TV Series “Defying Gravity” Takes off with Sony F35 Camera
