Scharff Weisberg Lighting has recently taken delivery of a large quantity of Coemar Infinity Wash XL automated fixtures from Inner Circle Distribution (Sunrise, FL).

Immediately after delivery they were provided to LD Tom Kenny for the MTV 2009 Video Music Awards broadcast live, September 13th from Radio City Music Hall. “The Inifinity Wash is a favorite of Tom’s” cites Scharff Weisberg Lighting senior project manager John Healy. “They’re different from anything we currently have in stock. It’s a wash light with a very bright, very long throw and a beam effect wheel that designers use to put texture on scenery and do myriad other dynamic beam effects.” more

Auditorium 6 of the Mann Chinese 6 Theatre in the Hollywood and Highland complex is experiencing unparalleled 3D sound thanks to a cutting-edge, 380-channel IOSONO audio system installed by Electrosonic (www.electrosonic.com). Mann Chinese 6 is adjacent to the famed Grauman’s Chinese Theatre which is also a Mann property.

The Mann Chinese 6 project marks the second IOSONO installation Electrosonic has performed. Earlier, Electrosonic installed a 308.5-channel system at the Peltz Theater in the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, the first such IOSONO system in the US.

The IOSONO installation at Mann Chinese 6 is designed to help Hollywood sound designers assess the system’s viability for premium theaters nationwide. Vibrant Design’s Christopher Landy is lighting up the web with his work for six “MTV Unplugged” shows that debuted on www.unplugged.mtv.com. Landy served as lighting designer for shows headlined by Baltimore pop-punk band All Time Low; British chanteuse Adele; LA-based indie rockers Silversun Pickups; power pop-punk group Paramore; sassy, spunky Katy Perry; and the Afro pop-inspired group Vampire Weekend.

The “MTV Unplugged” shows were executive produced and directed by Matthew Mills of Space Station Media. The Brooklyn-based company produces content across all platforms from the Emmy Award-nominated “Fan Life” for HBO.com and the YouTubeLive web and mobile event to a wide array of TV shows and feature films. Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth

Scharff Weisberg, Inc. (SWI) partnered with the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas and Academy Award-nominated director Philip Haas (”Angels and Insects”) on an innovative installation spotlighting five works from the museum’s permanent collection.

“Butchers, Dragons, Gods & Skeletons” expands those five selections into multiscreen film narratives displayed in customized environments. SWI engineered and installed the critically-acclaimed project which runs from July 18-October 25 and sets a new benchmark for museums looking for a compelling new ways to highlight works from their collections. more
