SurgeX Joins Forces With ESP

LOS ANGELES - May 2007 – As the burgeoning console and computer gaming community found its online voice, Comcast–the cable giant behind E! Entertainment Television–responded to the need for a TV channel dedicated to this increasingly popular obsession by creating G4, which in 2006 ranked as the fastest growing network on television.


Comcast is currently in the process of building a brand new production control room at its Los Angeles facility on Wilshire Boulevard for G4, the centerpiece of which will soon be a Studer Vista 8 live production and broadcast console. “We expect great things from this digital console,” enthuses E! Entertainment Director of Engineering David Gaudino, who is supervising the installation project. New Jersey-based Diversified Systems is handling the system integration for Comcast, working to infrastructure designs developed by Gaudino and E! Entertainment/G4 staff. more

Studer OnAir 3000 Makes The News At KVBC-TV Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nevada - May 2007 – Time and tide, as they say, wait for no man. And in the deadline-crazy world of television news, reliability and flexibility are essential ingredients for any audio console called upon to handle daily programming.


At KVBC-TV Channel 3, an NBC affiliate station serving the greater Las Vegas metro area, the decision was recently made to replace the analog console in its news production studio with a Studer OnAir 3000 digital broadcast desk. The new desk was selected as part of a full audio and video facilities update now that the station is transitioning from standard definition to an all-digital future of high-definition broadcasting that will begin before the end of the year. more

Studer And Digigram Partner Up To Add EtherSound Interconnectivity

NORTHRIDGE, California - May 2007 – Digital console manufacturer Studer and EtherSound network developer Digigram have announced the joint development of an EtherSound interface card for Studer consoles.


Designed to fit into the Studer D21m I/O system rack, initially for use with the Studer OnAir 3000 console but also compatible with Studer’s flagship Vista series and routing systems, the card will allow 128 channels of audio (64 inputs/64 outputs) to be connected to the D21m via a single Cat5 connection. A second Cat5 connection permits daisy chain or redundant ring topologies, the latter allowing for the network to remain uninterrupted should a cable be broken. One of the advantages of EtherSound in the broadcast domain is its extremely low latency. more

NORTHRIDGE, California - May 2007 – The early success of the Vista 5 and increased customer demand for more channels and multiple operator control on the highly successful Studer Vista 5 console has led to the release of a 42-fader version. Since its launch last year, the Vista 5 has been acclaimed as the most compact, portable and easy-to-install console in its class.


An additional bay of 10 input faders allows an operator to control 42 input channels simultaneously and, equally importantly, permits true two-man operation of the desk. more
