TORONTO – May 15, 2008 – MyToons.com, the premier online animation community, is co-sponsoring the Toronto “MONSTERJAM” Animation contest. Animators are challenged to create a 10-second animated film featuring monsters created with any animation technique.

BURBANK, CA (April 30, 2008)— Quantel’s regional office, here, was broken into early this week, and the company’s brand new Neo control panel for its Pablo color correction system was taken. Quantel introduced Neo at NAB in Las Vegas this month and has already taken orders for 20 units, as its Newbury, UK, factory ramps up production.

Neo was designed through feedback from Pablo users and incorporates a layout that allows for fast work by either left- or right-handed operators. The control panel offers one-button access to menus, keeping functions easily accessible. Ahost of organic LEDs, as well as its backlit fascia, help to provide visual feedback to the user. more

The Poppy Jasper Film Festival (PJFF) has issued a final call for entries for its first Short Script Competition as the judging process for this inaugural script competition draws near. LOS ANGELES, CA, March 25, 2008 - PrimalScream Music and Creative Director/Executive Producer Nicole Dionne are putting together an all-girl pop band for a national ad campaign that involves recording original songs, photo shoots, and, possibly, live performances in Los Angeles.

The creative calls for performers across the cultural spectrum, with that GIRL NEXT DOOR look, at least 18 years of age, appearing 18-25. Applicants must be able to SING AND PLAY A ROCK INSTRUMENT. more

If the endeavor sounds reminiscent of Group101Spots, it’s for good reason: founder Dina Mande and Production Advisor Steven Gould have rebranded the program.

“Originally, Group101Spots welcomed mostly brand new directors but we’re finding it no longer accurately reflect the level of professionalism of the members,” explained Mande. “It’s not film school, but it is a laboratory, and it’s a place from which directors can launch or transform their careers.” more

User-submitted videos to be shown at NAB 2008

San Francisco, CA, February 14, 2008 – Red Giant Software (www.redgiantsoftware.com) is sponsoring a contest to let users submit their best work using Red Giant Software’s Magic Bullet Looks or Trapcode Form tools and win a chance to show their work at NAB 2008. Users will upload their videos to the My Toolfarm web site where other users can vote on the submission from now until March 24th. The winner will get to fly to NAB and present their work at the Red Giant Software booth at NAB 2008. Winners will be determined by user scores on the My Toolfarm web site and by a panel of Red Giant Software judges. more
