Phil Bates, President & CEO of Artbeats, is here at NAB, just back from a four-day Lear Jet aerial shoot that took him from LA to Colorado to Texas to Oregon. They were on a big game hunt for clouds, preferably the white puffy ones..cumulus nimbus?? Checking satelites for leads, getting rumors on the ground they pursued their prey with F900Rs one in the nose one in the belly. For scale they traveled with a sleek F-5 fighter jet and a Gulfstream G4 exectuvie which appears in the day one footage. “It’s fun to talk about but not fun to pay for,” Bates observes of the price of Gulfstream admission–$12K for two hours. “We feel that the production value of that footage sets Artbeats apart,” Bates says. The company did a similar cloud fly through 7 years ago, and the products did great. But they weren’t HD. Now they are, which converges with what Artbeats says is a recent significant spike in the demand for HD.
Footage will be available in the fall.
