Avat‘Art : A Real Space where Art and Technology Merge
I-Maginer, developer of three-dimensional, real-time collaborative online environments, and digital artist Jean-Marie Minazio are launching a highly novel 3-D, virtual art gallery, the Avat‘Art Project. Set to launch Aug. 1 in connection with the opening of the SIGGRAPH trade show in Boston, this project is a concept, an artistic performance, and ultimately a new medium, created with a recently launched online service called MyBlog3d.
Beyond the technology of virtual reality, an inevitable future appears: The digital world is coming to life and will soon become a separate reality alongside our physical existence.
The Avat‘Art Project is a real, living place for creativity, exchange and sharing, but it‘s also a place with no physical manifestation. It‘s an online 3-D loft-style art gallery to be visited in real time.
Beginning Aug. 1, anyone with an Internet connection can access the gallery by first downloading the I-Voyager software necessary to view the 3-D site (a very light download, at 1.4 MB), and then accessing the website: www.avat-art-project.com. Built with an online service developed by I-Maginer, MyBlog3D, the virtual art gallery is navigable by the user through the I-Voyager interface, which also allows real-time communication between users. Meet the artist and interact with other visitors through their avatars and exchange in real-time through VoIP, chat, or webcam to discover new exhibitions, participate in live concerts, enjoy video shows, listen to music, talk with the public, participate in debates, and more.
I-Maginer will showcase this site, and its other products and services, at SIGGRAPH 2006 in Boston, from Aug. 1 to 3, at booth number 2229. To preview the gallery, please visit: www.avat-art-project.com.
