MySpace has more than 50,000 global filmmakers and countless creative communities producing and distributing original content on the site. MySpace Video and MySpace Film have become the home to thousands of creators of premium content ranging from viral video to documentaries. On-site efforts in Park City uniquely celebrate and recognize the site‘s creative roots in music, film, and video. Additionally, MySpace is a partner of Slamdance, a film festival designed by filmmakers and taking place in Park City from January 18-27, 2007.

This year‘s film festival activities mark the one year anniversary for MySpace Film, an online community to support and showcase the independent film community. MySpace Film allows users to upload short films, documentaries, animated films, comedies, and clips to a unique “Filmmaker” profile. The community offers exclusive screenings, premieres, and valuable insight from notable filmmakers to build awareness of films and filmmakers. Last year‘s celebration at Park City featured a music video re-make competition with the Beastie Boys in honor of their film, Awesome; I F***in‘ Shot That! and a 2,000-person party featuring a performance by the band.
